2008-09: Named Coaches’ Award winnerfor the outdoor season. Set UB’s top outdoor shot put markwith a 55-1.50 throw to place second at the MAC Championships,earning a spot in the NCAA East Regionals and All-MAC Second-Teamhonors. Threw the shot 52-10.50 at the regional meet. Posted aseason-best discus throw of 155-1 at the Penn Relays. Placed thirdin the shot put (56-3) at the MAC Indoor Championships, earning anIC4A qualifying mark. Named to the MAC All-Academic indoor andoutdoor teams.
2007-08: Redshirted the indoor and outdoorseasons.
2006-07: Named Most Improved for both theindoor and outdoor seasons. Finished third in the shot put(56-4.50) at the MAC Indoor Championships and competed at the IC4AChampionships, where he placed 19th. Placed sixth in the shot put(55-6.25) at the MAC Outdoor Championships. Posted two career-bestthrows with his 16th-place finish at the NCAA East Regionals with atop mark of 56-5.25. Earned Academic All-MAC honors for the indoorand outdoor seasons.
2005-06: Selected as the outdoorteam’s Top Newcomer. Scored eighth-place finishes in the shotput (48-8.75) and discus (150-7) at the MAC Outdoor Championships.Team’s top discus thrower with a best mark of 156-1 in 2006.Finished 14th in the shot put (47-3.75) at the MAC IndoorChampionships.
High School: Earned six letters andcaptained three years for coaches Billie Mays and Ted Swavely atRome Free Academy. Helped the Black Knights to the state team titlein 2005 and was an All-Central New York and and all-league honoree.Won three league and sectional titles in shot put and discus. Alsoearned all-league honors as a football lineman.
Personal: Born September 6, 1987. Son ofDonald and Judy Madonia. Has two sisters (Leona, Dana). Favoritebook is Friday Night Lights. Favorite food ischicken wings. Lists making the Dean’s List his proudestaccomplishment at UB. Majoring in psychology.
