
Parks Wins Gold as Bulls Bring Home Four Medals on Day Three of MAC Outdoor Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. - The University at Buffalo track and field program competed at the final day of the 2026 MAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, hosted by Ball State University. The Bulls brought home four medals on day three, headlined by Michael Parks winning a gold medal. The Bulls stood on the podium 14 more times on the third day and posted four performances that entered the program's all-time outdoor rankings.
Parks won the men's 110-meter hurdles MAC title with a first-place time of 13.78 seconds. The time was the fastest ever by a Buffalo athlete at MAC Championships. The performance was also the fourth time Parks broke the 13.90-second barrier, never done before in program history. The senior now has three medals in hurdling events at MAC Championships.
The Bulls had three podium finishers in the men's triple jump, headlined by freshman Nicalis Williams, who earned a silver medal with a mark of 14.65 meters. Freshman Mitch Diamond (5th, 14.37m) and sophomore Micah Blair (6th, 13.85m) also took the podium, giving the program three of the eight spots.
Sophomore Aidan Norris earned a silver medal in the men's 800-meter dash with a personal record time of 1:49.16. The time rose to third in the program's outdoor record book. Norris' earned the fourth medal of his career with the performance. Noah Brightman also competed in the finals, finishing ninth (1:57.25).
Stella Kapp earned a silver medal in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.74 meters. Kapp was just shy of her personal record in the high jump (1.76m), which ranks fifth in program history. The sophomore also earned a podium placement on day one in the women's javelin throw. Adriana Ellsworth placed ninth in the event with a mark of 1.66 meters.
Linnea Neureuther finished fifth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.67 meters. The distance was a new personal best for the sophomore, which ranks third in program history. Kara Moran placed 11th (12.22m) and Amari Hall earned 15th (12.05m). Hall's mark was a new personal best, which ranks 10th in program history.
The Buffalo men placed fourth in the 4x100-meter relay. Rylee VanAlstine, Keoni Chong, Mitch Diamond and Matthew Schaffert combined to finish the event in 40.79, less than one second shy of the program record (39.88).
Schaffert also competed in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash finals. He placed seventh (10.64) in the 100-meter and sixth in the 200-meter (21.26). Schaffert's 200-meter time was a new personal record, ranking fifth in program history.
VanAlstine finished seventh in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.95. The sophomore's preliminary round time of 54.09 took the ninth spot in UB outdoor history. On the women's side, Gemma Galligani placed eighth with a time of 1:00.76.
The Buffalo women finished 11th in the 4x100-meter. Uma Bhattacharjee, Amber McDonald, Sophia Sampson and Hailey Martinez mapped the track in 46.30, just over a second shy of the program record (45.29).
Vincent Gauresimo (6th, 3:52.38) and Collin Stafford (7th, 3:52.76) earned podium placements for the Bulls in the men's 1,500-meter. Brightman also competed for the program, finishing ninth (3:53.43). On the women's side, Vassi Klock placed 12th in the 1,500-meter final with a time of 4:31.64.
Luke Stoeffler earned a podium placement in the men's 5,000-meter with a time of 14:44.90. Chris Turner also competed for the Bulls, finishing 14th (15:49.24). On the women's side, Bronagh Cassidy placed 28th (17:54.38).
Daniel Richardson finished ninth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters.
The Buffalo men closed out the day on the track by placing fifth in the men's 4x400-meter. Chong, Norris, VanAlstine and Malachi Taylor posted a time of 3:13.26.
The Buffalo women ended day three by finishing 11th in the 4x400-meter. Neureuther, Galligani, Sampson and Salazar finished the event in 3:50.25.
