Bulls Welcome Colgate to UB Stadium on Senior Day Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team welcomes Colgate to UB Stadium on Senior Day on Sunday at 1pm.
The game will be streamed on YouTube with Jack Kreuzer announcing. Fans are encouraged to stay after the match for the Senior Day ceremony, presented by the UB Office of Alumni Engagement.
It will be the 16th overall meeting between the two programs, with the Raiders owning the 9-5-1 series advantage. The Bulls defeated the Raiders 1-0 at Beyer Small '76 Field a year ago.
Sophomore defender Maya Galko curled a ball off the back post for a goal in the 73rd minute to lead Buffalo to a 1-0 win over crosstown rival Canisius on Wednesday night at UB Stadium. Buffalo outshot Canisius 10-4 on the night, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal and a 6-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Sophomore Lexie Thompson made three saves on the night, the biggest coming in the 66th minute on a shot breakaway opportunity for the visitors.
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in goals against average (.500) and save percentage (.909), while also ranking in the top three in saves per game (5.00), shutout percentage (.500) and corner kicks per game (5.5). Individually, Jasmine Guerber leads UB with two goals while three players have recorded an assist. Between the pipes, Thompson is 3-0-1 overall with two shutouts, 18 saves, a 0.50 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
Colgate fell at LaSalle 2-1 on Thursday night. The Raiders, who were picked to finish seventh in the Patriot League preseason poll, return 21 players from their 2023 campaign in which they finished with a 3-5-1 overall record. In addition, senior defender Olivia Anderson was tabbed to the Patriot League Preseason All-League team after earning Second Team All-League honors a season ago. They also return their leading goal scorer and First Team All-Patriot League honoree Ari Bezanson who is off to a great start with two goals on the year.
Up next, Buffalo heads out west for a two-game stint in Colorado, beginning on Thursday, September 12 with a contest at Colorado College at 8pm (EST).
