Box Score

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer (4-5-5, 1-3-3 MAC) team played to a scoreless draw with Massachusetts on a chilly evening at Broadview Stadium on Thursday.

The Bulls were aggressive early on as they earned a corner kick, and Ella McDonald slid a pass to Adriana Victoriano who drilled a shot that clanged off the crossbar. A few minutes later, Laiken Kiser intercepted a pass, found space and ripped a shot, but Leah Nisenfeld made the save.

Buffalo had another chance in the 32^nd minute as they used great ball movement to set up a shot attempt from Jessie Bernabe, but Nisenfeld was there for another save and the game remained scoreless at the half.

The Bulls continued to attack out of the locker room as Maya Galko took a free kick and played a great ball into the box to the foot of Eva Blatz, but she didn't quite get all of it and Nisenfeld made the save. A couple of minutes later, Victoriano made a great run and fired a shot from the corner of the box, but it sailed high and out of play.

The Minutewomen looked to counter in the 59^th minute as Monica Curry broke free up the left side and fired a shot, but Lexie Thompson was there for the save. Ten minutes later, Kayla Nohasiarisoa found space and drilled a shot from about 15 yards out, but Thompson leapt up to make an incredible save and punch the ball out of play.

Buffalo created several chances in the final ten minutes of play as Eva Poissant drilled a shot off the crossbar in the 86^th minute and then later, Galko took a free kick and played another great ball into the box to the head of Blatz but she couldn't convert as Nisenfeld made the save and the game ended in a draw.

The Bulls outshot the Minutewomen 16-9, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal, while also maintaining a 5-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Thompson made five saves on the night for her league-leading eighth shutout of the season while Nisenfeld made six stops for UMass.

Up next, Buffalo will travel to Akron for a clash with the Zips on Sunday, October 18 at 1pm.
