Bulls Fall To Eastern Michigan on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (4-3-3, 1-1-1 MAC) fell to Eastern Michigan 2-0 at Broadview Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulls had their best chance of the first half in the 26^th minute as Eva Blatz settled a ball in the box and drilled a shot from point blank range, but Ella Holland made a diving save to knock the ball out of play.

The Eagles applied pressure in the 32^nd minute as they took a free kick and Annalyse Bauer ripped a shot on net but Lexie Thompson made a leaping save to knock the ball out of play.

Buffalo had another chance a few minutes later as Maya Galko took the corner and played a ball across to Adriana Victoriano who fired a shot that was saved by Holland and the game remained scoreless at the half.

The Bulls had their best scoring chance of the game in the 56^th minute as Blatz played a beautiful big ball up the field that Capra chased down, settled and drilled a shot but Holland was there to make the save.

Eastern Michigan broke through in the 67^th minute as they drew a foul and on the ensuing free kick, they drew Thompson out and after she slid, Tayla Maddock came up with the rebound and banged a shot into the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The visitors would add to their lead in the 84^th minute as Blatz was called for a handball in the box and Christie Fransen converted the penalty kick goal to put EMU up 2-0 and that would be the final.

The Eagles narrowly outshot the Bulls 7-6, while also maintaining a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. The teams were even with four corner kick opportunities each. Thompson made four saves on the day, while Holland also made four stops for EMU.

Up next, Buffalo will travel to Oxford, Ohio for a clash with the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Thursday, October 1. Kickoff from Bobby Kramig Field is set for 7pm.
