
Bulls Play to Draw With Kent State on Thursday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (9-1-5, 4-1-3 MAC) played to a 2-2 draw with Kent State on Thursday night at UB Stadium.
UB had a good look early as Kelly Severini created space just inside the box and drilled a shot on goal, but Heidi Marshall made a great save.
Kent State would get on the board in the 12th minute off the foot of as Alisa Arthur who gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Buffalo had a quick answer just two minutes later as Sarah Woods made a great run up the right side and fired a ball across the box that found the top left corner of the net to tie the game at one.
Offense was at a premium for much of the half before the Golden Flashes had a pair of shot attempts in the 32nd and 37th minute but Lexie Thompson was there to make a pair of saves as the game remained tied at the half.
Kent State took advantage of a miscue by the UB defense in the 53rd minute as they intercepted a bad clear and Jules Dolinski found Addy Cusick who banged a shot into the back of the net to give the Golden Flashes a 2-1 lead.
UB had a great scoring chance in the 68th minute, putting together a beautiful sequence as Kaya Schultz hit Carolyn Hinkle out wide who played a great ball back across the box to Olivia Bizzoni and she drilled a rocket on goal, but it clanged off the top crossbar and out of play.
The Bulls would find the equalizer in the 70th minute as Maya Galko took a free kick and drilled a soaring shot over the outstretched hands of Marshall and into the back of the net to tie the game at two and that would be the final.
Kent State outshot the Buffalo 16-9 on the day, including a narrow 7-5 advantage in shots on goal, while the Bulls had a 6-5 edge in corner kick opportunities. Thompson made five saves while Marshall made two stops for the Golden Flashes. Hinkle was named Player of the Game by the UB coaching staff.
Up next, Buffalo will have the weekend off before returning to action on Thursday as they host Ohio in the final home game of the regular season at 6pm.
