Bulls Announce Signing of Saniaa Wilson

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced the signing of 6'0" forward Saniaa Wilson on Friday morning. Wilson will be eligible to compete in the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Wilson comes to Buffalo from Rochester, NY where she had a standout career at Bishop Kearney High School, leading the Kings to three straight Section V championships, two regional championships and two appearances at the New York State Championship. The 6'0" forward is ranked No. 18 at her position by ESPN and finished as Bishop Kearney's all-time leading scorer with more than 1,600 points and 1,500 rebounds and was also a nominee for the 2021 Ronald McDonald All-American game. She was a member of the Democrat and Chronicle's all-decade team, which also included current Bull Dyaisha Fair and former Bull Cierra Dillard, and is a four-time All-Greater Rochester selection.
Despite being the focus of defenses every time she stepped on the floor, Wilson averaged 15.6 points, 16.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 4.6 blocks in 22 games as a junior while shooting 58 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range and 72 percent from the charity stripe. Wilson recorded 18 double-doubles and a triple-double on the year.
"Getting a player of Saniaa Wilson's caliber this late in the game is a gift," said Legette-Jack. "We have recruited this young woman for a long time, and we grew to love her more each year as her game continued to evolve. When she originally committed to another school, I was devastated but now that she is a Bull, we are so thrilled. The Rochester pipeline continues to be a fruitful one for us.
