BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo and women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack have agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season, Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt announced today.
"We believe in Coach Jack and the future is very bright for our UB women's basketball program," said Alnutt. "This extension represents the stability and commitment needed to execute the long-term vision that Felisha and I share."
Legette-Jack led Buffalo to continued success during the 2020-21 season as the Bulls won 15 games in an unprecedented season. The UB front court dominated the paint and the glass once again as the Bulls led the MAC and ranked 13th in the nation in rebounds per game (43.2) while also leading the league in offensive rebounds per game (16.1). Under her guidance, sophomore guard Dyaisha Fair continued to make a name for herself on the national stage as she earned first-team All-MAC and All-Defensive team honors, while finishing sixth in the nation in scoring. Rookie guard Cheyenne McEvans earned a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team. The Bulls also found success in the classroom as UB placed five student-athletes on the Academic All-MAC team.
The Syracuse, NY native has led UB to eight straight winning seasons for the first time since the Bulls joined the MAC in 1998. She led Buffalo to their most historic season in program history in 2017-18, finishing with a program-best 29-6 overall record and 16-2 MAC mark while collecting their first NCAA Tournament victories and advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. The Bulls have produced four 20+ win campaigns in the last six seasons and are the only team in the MAC to win at least 19 games in six of the last seven campaigns. Buffalo has also recorded 10 or more MAC wins in six of the last eight seasons under Legette-Jack.
"I am excited about this opportunity that our administration has given to me to continue to build upon our successes both on and off the court," said Legette-Jack. "To have longevity is very important when it comes to recruiting the next level of future Bulls and we are excited to grow this program to newfound heights."
Legette-Jack has accumulated a 177-107 overall record at Buffalo and became the all-time winningest coach in program history with the Bulls win at Kent State on January 25, 2020. She went over the 300 career win plateau with a win at Ohio on February 29, 2020 and currently owns a 318-270 career head coaching record across 19 seasons as head coach.
