BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Kristen Sharkey has announced the addition of Anaya Coleman to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
Coleman, a 5'6 guard from Pittsford, NY, comes to Buffalo from Southeastern University where she appeared in 60 games across two seasons, helping lead the Fire to two consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances. As a junior, Coleman played an instrumental role in the Fire's success as she started all 31 games, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while leading the team with 118 assists to help lead the squad to a 24-7 overall record and a Sun Conference Championship game appearance. She scored in double figures 15 times, including a season-best 28 points in the conference championship game, while also shooting 84% from the free throw line, which ranks ninth all time in a single season in program history.
As a sophomore, she appeared in 29 games, averaging 7.2 points per game, including eight double-digit scoring efforts, while shooting 41% from the field and adding 105 rebounds, 63 assists and 43 steals. Prior to Southeastern, Coleman played one season at Monmouth University.
Before college, Coleman had a standout career at Pittsford Mendon High School where she helped lead the Vikings to four consecutive Section V titles, including a state championship title in 2019, and was a multiple-time All-Greater Rochester selection. As a senior, she helped lead the Vikings to a 23-2 overall record and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 Great Rochester Ronald McDonald House Senior All-Star game.
"Anaya is a dynamic combo guard who thrives both on and off the ball, making her a constant threat," said Sharkey. "Her high basketball IQ and natural playmaking instincts elevate everyone around her. With a quick first step and elite change of pace, she gets to the basket at will and excels in up tempo play. Add in her ability to create her own shot, and you've got a guard who can take over games in multiple ways. Defensively, she uses that IQ and instinct to jump passing lanes and create live ball turnovers for easy baskets on the other end. We are thrilled to welcome Anaya to Buffalo!"
