Bulls To Take on Nationally-Ranked Pitt on Thursday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team travels to Pittsburgh for a contest with the seventh-ranked Pitt Panthers on Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field at 5pm.
The game will be streamed on ACCNX with Jason Earle (play-by-play) and Rachael Kriger (color) announcing.
It is the third straight, and seventh overall, meeting between the two programs, with the Panthers owning a 5-1 series advantage. The Panthers defeated the Bulls 2-1 in the season opener at UB Stadium a year ago.
The Bulls defeated St. Bonaventure 1-0 in the regular season opener on August 15. Fifth year midfielder Kelly Severini recorded the game-winning goal in the 80th minute off a beautiful set piece assist by 2023 All-Freshman team selection Maya Galko. UB dominated the stat sheet , outshooting the Bonnies 23-2 on the night, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal, and a 9-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Sophomore Lexie Thompson needed to make just one save in her first shutout of the season.
Pitt secured their first victory of the season in a 2-1 win over Duquesne on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers return five of their double-digit point scorers from last year's squad that reached the both the ACC Championship semifinals and the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The Panthers finished at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings with a 17-win season and set program records for most wins overall (17), ACC wins (6), home wins (9), points (194), goals (64) and assists (68).
Up next, Buffalo will travel across the state to take on Cornell on Thursday, August 29 at 7pm.
