Bulls Sign UMES Transfer Ariana Seawell

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Becky Burke announced the signing of Maryland Eastern Shore transfer Arianna Seawell to the roster for the 2024-25 season.
Seawell, a 6'2 forward from the Bronx, NY, comes to Buffalo after three seasons at Maryland Eastern Shore. She is coming off a solid junior season in which she garnered Third Team All-MEAC honors after leading the Hawks in in scoring average (10.7 ppg), total points (320), free throws taken and made (115...88), rebounds per game (6.0) and total rebounds (180). She scored a season-high 32 points against Wagner and pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds. She recorded five double-doubles on the year and ranked in the top five in the league in field goal percentage (.488), free throw percentage (.765), while ranking in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding.
As a sophomore, Seawell was one of four Hawks to appear in all 30 games while making 12 starts. She ranked second in MEAC in field goal percentage (.541) while finishing second on the squad in rebounding and fourth in scoring, recording 10 double-digit scoring efforts on the season. She made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning Third-Team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and MEAC All-Rookie Team honors after leading the Hawks in field goal percentage converting (.576) and ranking third in rebounding.
Before college, Seawell was a standout at Harry S. Truman High School where she led the Mustangs to three Bronx championships and garnered Second Team All-State honors.
"Ariana is exactly the type of post presence that we were looking to add to our roster," said Burke. "She completely changes the dynamic of our team with what we will be able to do both offensively and defensively with her on the floor. She brings a ton of physicality and a great skill set which will allow us to play inside-out and really expand our options offensively. She's an excellent rebounder as well, which addresses an immediate need for us moving into next season. Ariana has the size, skill and experience that will make her an immediate impact here at Buffalo and in the MAC."
