BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior guard Rana Elhusseini and sophomore guard/forward Hattie Ogden were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Elhusseini earns Academic All-District honors for the first time in her UB career. The Dearborn, MI native averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while also leading the team in assists (119), steals (50) and free throw percentage (.882). She made history in February as she recorded just the third triple double in school history in Buffalo's win over Southern Miss. Elhusseini has a bachelor's degree in exercise science and is currently pursuing a master's in public health.
Ogden, a biology major with 3.513 GPA, also earns Academic All-District recognition for the first time in her career. She put together a solid sophomore campaign, averaging 7.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while ranking second on the team in threes made (58) and third in three-point field goal percentage (.317). The Magrath, Alberta native recorded a career-high with 21 points in the win over Niagara and knocked down a career-best six made threes in UB's win over UMES. Ogden proved to be an "X-Factor" for Buffalo as the Bulls went 11-0 in games that she scored 10 or more points.
The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in April.
