
Bulls Add Towson Transfer Kiara Johnson

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head women's basketball coach Becky Burke has announced the addition of Towson transfer Kiara Johnson.
Johnson joins Burke in Buffalo from Towson where she appeared in 18 games earning four starts as a junior, averaging 3.3 points, 4.4 rebounds 0.7 blocks and 12.8 minutes per game. She set season-highs in several categories including 26 minutes of action, netting eight points, three field goals against Hofstra in the CAA quarterfinals.
Johnson is no stranger to the Mid-American Conference after playing two seasons at Eastern Michigan prior to Towson, appearing in 58 games. She averaged 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game as a freshman and ranked third on the team in rebounds (147) and rebounds per game while also ranking second with 17 blocks. As a sophomore, Johnson averaged 4.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, scoring in double figures three times, while averaging 13 minutes per contest.
The Buffalo, NY native starred at Cardinal O'Hara where she led the Hawks to four-consecutive Monsignor Martin Athletic Association high school championships. She averaged 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game as a senior, earning her Second Team All-Western New York honors.
Burke on Johnson: "Kiara is a local product that will be a strong, physical post presence for us. She also brings some valuable experience to our roster. She will be an asset to us at her position and will be an excellent ambassador for UB women's basketball both on and off the floor."
Johnson joins Latrice Perkins, Chellia Watson, Re'Shawna Stone and Zakiyah Winfield as the fifth commit to join UB in the Burke era.
