Woolley Named MAC Freshman of the Year, Three Bulls Earn Postseason Honors

BUFFALO, NY - The Mid-American Conference announced their postseason awards on Tuesday. Buffalo was well represented as Georgia Woolley was named MAC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MAC Third Team, Dyaisha Fair received All-MAC First Team honors and Summer Hemphill garnered Second Team and All-Defensive Team recognition.

Fair is just the second player in program history to be named First Team All-MAC twice, joining all-time leading scorer and Hall of Fame member Kourtney Brown who won the award in 2010 and 2011. Hemphill is UB's third straight All-Defensive Team honoree and with Woolley's recognition, the Bulls have now placed a rookie on the All-Freshman team in three straight years.

Fair has led the league in scoring in two of first three years and she continued to elevate her game as a junior, averaging 23.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game and a +2.0 assist to turnover ratio, while shooting 81.7% from the free throw line.

The Rochester, NY native is currently ranked fourth in the nation in scoring (23.1) while also ranking second in total points (694), ninth in field goals made (236), 11^th in free throws made (143), 14^th in three-point field goals made (79), 23^rd in three-point field goals made per game (2.6) and 25^th in free throws attempted (175). She has scored in double figures 28 times this season, 22 times with 20 or more points and six times with 30+ points. Fair was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Becky Hammon Award, which honors the nation's best mid-major player, and is on the late season watch list for the Dawn Staley Award as well as the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list, recognizing the best point guard in women's Division I basketball.

Woolley is the third Freshman of the Year recipient in program history and the first since Fair won the award in 2020. The Brisbane, Australia native has put together an impressive freshman campaign as she has been a consistent presence for the Bulls on both ends of the floor, averaging 14.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 41.2% from the floor. She has scored in double figures 23 times and has eclipsed the 20-point mark nine times, including a career-high 30 points in UB's win at Eastern Michigan on February 2nd.

Hemphill earns Second Team honors for the second time in her career. After missing most of the last two years with an injury, Hemphill is making the most of her final season in Buffalo as she is averaging a double-double with 13.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in addition to 2.1 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor. She also leads the team with 38 blocks. She has recorded 13 double-doubles on the year and now has 37 for her career. The Buffalo, NY native scored her 1,000^th career point and grabbed her 1,000^th career rebound earlier this season, becoming just the second player in program history to accomplish that feat. She is just 20 rebounds away from becoming the program's all-time leading rebounder.
