Dyaisha Fair Named To Dawn Staley Award Late Season Watch List

BUFFALO, NY – For the third straight season, University at Buffalo junior guard Dyaisha Fair has been named to the Dawn Staley Award Late Season Watch List, as announced by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia on Saturday. She is joined by Ohio's CeCe Hooks as one of two players from the Mid-American Conference on the 17-player list.
The Dawn Staley Award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills she possessed throughout her career in ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win. Four finalists will be announced in mid-March and the winner will be announced the weekend of the Final Four. The award will be presented Thursday April 7.
Fair has played and started in all 21 games this season, leading the way in scoring with 22.3 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, 4.3 assists per contest and a +2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio. Fair is currently ranked eighth in the nation in scoring and also ranks in the top 40 in field goals made (162), three point field goals made per game (2.6), three point field goals made (54), free throws made (90), assist to turnover ratio (+2.3) and final points (468). She has scored in double figures 20 times this season, 15 times with 20 or more points and three times with 30+ points, including a career-high 40 points in UB's win at Bowling Green last month.
The Rochester, NY native is currently the program's career scoring leader at 22.7 points per game and is second at 1,707 career points. She also ranks in the top 10 in field goals made (581), three point field goals made (188), free throws made (357), free throws attempted (460), free throw percentage (77.6) and assists (319)
Fair was also named to the midseason watch list for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award last month.
