Fair Named Preseason Big 4 Player of the Year, Three Other Bulls Honored

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo sophomore guard Dyaisha Fair headlined the Preseason All-Big 4 women's basketball teams, which were announced Wednesday afternoon in advance of the start of the 2020-21 season. Fair was a unanimous selection for the First Team and was named Big 4 Player of the Year for the first time in her UB career.

The Bulls saw four players earn a spot on the two All-Big 4 squads, which were voted on by media and athletic communications staffs that cover Buffalo, Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure.
Joining Fair on the first team are redshirt senior Summer Hemphill, also a unanimous selection, and senior Hanna Hall, while junior Adebola Adeyeye earned a spot on the second team.

Fair continues to see the preseason honors pile up after already being named to the Nancy Lieberman and Becky Hammon Award watch lists, while also earning preseason First Team All-MAC honors. The Rochester, NY native was named MAC Freshman of the Year and was a Second Team All-MAC selection last season after putting together one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in program history in which she finished the season ranked fourth in the nation in scoring (22.0 ppg), while also ranking third in final points (660), 20^th in steals per game (2.8) and 21^st in total steals (83). Additionally, she finished in the top 10 in nine statistical categories on UB's single-season records list.

After being named to the Cheryl Miller Award watch list and preseason All-MAC Second team earlier this month, this is Hemphill's second straight unanimous selection to the preseason Big 4 First Team. She returns to the floor after sitting out last season due to injury. The Buffalo, NY native is currently tied for 10th on UB's all-time rebounding list with 759 rebounds and is just 81 points away from becoming Buffalo's 27^th 1,000 point scorer. She is also looking to become just the second player in program history to record 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

This is Hall's second straight appearance on the preseason Big 4 First Team. Hall was a consistent presence once again for UB as a junior as she was one of four Bulls to appear in all 31 games, while earning 30 starts. She averaged career-highs in points (7.8), rebounds (3.3) and assists (3.1) per game while shooting a team-best 84.5% from the free throw line.

It is the first preseason Big 4 honor for Adeyeye. The Brampton, Ontario native looks to be a major factor for the Bulls once again this season after recording career-highs in points (5.9), rebounds (6.6) and minutes (19.7) per game, while shooting a career-best 55% from the field as a sophomore.

The Bulls are scheduled to open the 2020-21 season on Wednesday afternoon.
