Theresa Onwuka Named MAC East Co-Player of the Week

BUFFALO, NY - After a strong weekend on the court for the University at Buffalo women's basketball team (6-2, 0-0 MAC), senior guard Theresa Onwuka has been selected as the Mid-American Conference East division Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
This is the first weekly honor for Onwuka and the second for the Bulls this season.
Onwuka led the Bulls to victories over Drexel and American at the 26th Annual Hawk Classic held at Saint Joseph's University. The senior averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks on the weekend while shooting 83.3% from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. On Saturday, Onwuka scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a hard-fought 63-59 win over Drexel. On Sunday, Onwuka led all scorers with 18 points, while shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, in an 18 point win over American.
The senior has now scored in double figures in eight straight games to begin the season. She is averaging 20.0 points per game on the season while leading the team with 7.5 rebounds per game.
The Bulls will return to action on Saturday, December 7, for a Noon contest at Big 4 rival St. Bonaventure.
