Khyreed Carter begins his fifth season as assistant coach for the University at Buffalo women's basketball team in 2021-22, working directly with the Bulls guards.
In 2020-21, Carter guided a Bulls backcourt that continued to excel, as UB recorded 15 wins in an unprecedented season. Under Carter’s guidance, sophomore Dyaisha Fair continued to prove herself on the national stage as she earned First Team All-MAC and All-Defensive Team honors while finishing sixth in the nation in scoring and becoming the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Carter played a crucial role in the development of freshman Cheyenne McEvans who made an immediate impact on both ends of the floor for UB and earned a spot on the MAC All-Freshman team. He was also instrumental in the development of junior transfer Jazmine Young.
Carter guided the Bulls backcourt to continued success in 2019-20, as Buffalo recorded 19 wins for the sixth straight season. Under Carter’s guidance, freshman Dyaisha Fair put together one of the best rookie campaigns in program history as she earned MAC Freshman of the Year and All-MAC Second Team honors, while finishing fourth in the nation in scoring and cementing her place in the top 10 on several UB single-season records. Carter successfully guided the veteran backcourt of Hanna Hall, and Theresa Onwuka who became the 26th 1,000 point scorer in program history. He was also instrumental in the development of Aireal Dickson and Jessika Schiffer.
In 2018-19, the Bulls continued to build off recent success finishing with a 24-10 overall record and won the program's second MAC Championship title while picking up NCAA Tournament wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. Under Carter’s guidance, Cierra Dillard earned First Team All-MAC honors and became one of the most dominant guards in the country, setting several UB and MAC single-season records and finishing as the nation’s second leading scorer. Sophomore point guard Hanna Hall also had a breakout year as she was named to the MAC Tournament team after a strong performance for the Bulls over three games in Cleveland.
In his first season with the program, the Bulls turned into a cinderella team as they were able to advance to their first Sweet 16 in school history. Under Carter's tutelage, the Bulls saw a pair of guards, Stephanie Reid and Cierra Dillard earn Second Team All-MAC honors.
