Bulls Play to Scoreless Draw With Binghamton on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (2-2-1) played to a scoreless draw with Binghamton in rainy conditions on Sunday afternoon.
It was a possession battle for most of the opening half with the two teams combining for just five total shots. Freshman Emma Patti found space and fired a shot on target that was saved by Rebecca Kessler and a few minutes later, Maya Bright made a run and ripped a shot in stride that sailed high and out of play.
The Bearcats had a chance late in the half as Jahkaya Davis broke free and drilled a shot on net, but Lexie Thompson leaped up to make the save and the game remained scoreless at the half.
The Bulls had a look early in the second half as Maya Galko took a corner kick and curled a shot on net, but Kessler was there for the save.
The Bearcats responded with a pair of scoring chances of their own as Paige Luke intercepted a UB clearance pass and ripped a shot from point blank range, but Thompson made a spectacular save to knock the ball out of play. Later in the 78th minute, Lucia Lopez settled a pass in the box and drilled a direct shot at the cross bar, but Thompson made another leaping save.
The Bulls had their last look of the game in the 86th minute as Ella McDonald took a shot across the box but it sailed wide left and the game would end in a draw.
Binghamton outshot Buffalo 10-8, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, while also earning three corner kick opportunities to UB's one. Thompson made six saves in her third shutout of the season while Kessler made three stops for the Bearcats.
Up next, Buffalo will welcome crosstown rival Canisius to Broadview Stadium on Wednesday, September 3 at 7pm.
