
Bulls In Action With A Pair of Big Games This Week

BUFFALO, NY – As the regular season winds down and the standings tighten, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team (10-3-2, 4-2-2 MAC) continues Mid-American Conference play this week with a pair of big games. The Bulls will travel to Bowling Green, OH for a showdown under the lights with the defending conference champion Falcons on Thursday night at 7pm before returning home to host the Toledo Rockets on Senior Day at 12pm on Sunday at UB Stadium.
On Thursday, it will be the 28th meeting between Buffalo and Bowling Green with the Falcons holding a 17-9-1 series advantage. The Bulls defeated Bowling Green 2-1 last season for the first win against the Falcons since 2016.
On Sunday, Buffalo and Toledo will meet for the 27th time with the Bulls owning a narrow 13-12-1 series edge. The Bulls have won the last six meetings against the Rockets.
Buffalo went 1-0-1 over the weekend as the Bulls picked up a thrilling 4-3 win over Western Michigan on Thursday before playing to a 1-1 draw at Northern Illinois on Sunday. Freshman Alya Ruken scored the first two goals of her UB career, including the game-winner to lead the Bulls to victory on Thursday night while Gianna Yurchak and Katherine Camper also netted a goal for UB. Graduate student Marcy Barberic scored the lone goal of the day for the Bulls on Sunday as she made it a perfect 10-for-10 on her career with penalty kick goals.
The Bulls have scored 30 goals on the year off the feet of 13 different players led by Barberic who has recorded eight goals and four assists while Arianna Zumpano and Camper have scored three goals each. The Bulls lead the MAC in shots on goal per game (7.33), assists per game (2.13) and corner kicks per game (5.40) and rank second in scoring offense (2.00), points per game (6.13) and total goals (30). Senior Emily Kelly has led UB between the pipes with 51 saves, while recording 1.18 goals against average and a .739 save percentage.
Winners of five straight, Bowling Green enters Thursday's match with a 7-5-3 overall record and a 6-1-1 MAC record after defeating Eastern and Central Michigan last week. The Falcons are led offensively by redshirt senor Madi Wolfbauer who has recorded 10 goals and an assist while sophomore Lacee Bethea has scored four goals. In net, Bowling Green is led by redshirt junior Lili Berg who has made 64 saves and owns a 1.18 goals against average in 15 starts.
Toledo enters the weekend with a 10-4-3 overall record and a 5-3-1 MAC mark after defeating Akron 2-0 on Thursday night. The Rockets are led offensively by sophomore Ellie Pool and freshman Olivia Dault have recorded six goals each. Sophomore Emma Boutorwick has led Toledo between the pipes, compiling a 0.62 goals against average and 65 saves in 16 starts. She leads the MAC with an .855 save percentage.
Following weekend play, the Bulls will stay home to conclude the regular season on Thursday, October 28 against Akron at 3pm.
