
Women’s Soccer Wraps Up Non-Conference Play at Oregon on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – After a week off, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team travels to Eugene, Oregon to take on the Oregon Ducks on Sunday, September 22, at 8 pm (EST) to wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule.
It is the first meeting between the two programs and just the second Pac-12 opponent faced by the Bulls in program history, with the first Pac-12 matchup coming at Cal-Berkley on September 6, 1993.
The Bulls are coming off a strong weekend in which they picked up a 4-1 win at Saint Francis (PA) on Thursday before defeating local rival Niagara 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The offense exploded for four goals, including three in a span of three minutes, in Thursday's road win, with a goals coming off the feet of Gurjeena Jandu, Kaitlyn Walsh, Tatyjana Scalisi and Kara Daly. Sunday was more of a defensive battle until Marcy Barberic broke the scoreless game open in the 71st minute to give the Bulls a 1-0 victory. Emily Kelly continued her strong play in net making nine saves on the week, including a crucial PK save in Thursday's victory and a season-high six saves against Niagara to secure her first shutout victory of the season. Her play earned her MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Oregon enters Sunday's match with a 3-1-3 overall record after playing to a 2-2 draw against Portland last week. The Ducks are being led offensively by Jordan Wormdahl who leads the team with six goals and six points on ten shot attempts. Ally Cook and Maya Hahn have also been main contributors as they have each scored three goals on six shots a piece.
In net, Oregon is led by Katelyn Carter who has started all seven games, compiling a 3-1-3 overall record with a 1.72 goals against average and 15 saves on the year.
Following Sunday's contest, Buffalo will travel to Toledo, OH to take on the Rockets in the conference-opener on Friday, September 27, at 7 pm.
