YPSILANTI, MI β The University at Buffalo women's soccer team scored less than 30 seconds into the game but unfortunately that would be the only goal on the day for UB as the Bulls fell 2-1 at Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon at Scicluna Field.
The loss puts Buffalo at 5-4-1 in the MAC, 8-7-2 overall, while Eastern Michigan improved to 4-6 in the league, 5-11-2 on the year.
The Bulls wasted no time getting on the board as Kara Daly drilled a ball into the upper left corner of the net for her fourth goal of the season off the feed from Katherine Camper to give UB a 1-0 lead just 27 seconds into the game.
The Bulls would have other opportunities as they outshot the Eagles 10-4 in the first half of play, but none would find the net.
The second half was almost all Eastern Michigan, pouring on the attack to get back in the game, totaling nine shots in the half to Buffalo's four.
The Eagles would break through in the 57th minute as Kristin Hullibarger knocked a ball past Emily Kelly into the bottom corner of the net for the equalizer.
The game would remain tied until the 78th minute when Lindsey Shira would flick a ball past Kelly on the assist from Hullibarger to give EMU a 2-1 lead.
The Bulls held a narrow 14-13 edge in total shots on the afternoon, but the Eagles had the 4-2 edge in shots on goal and the 3-2 corner kick advantage.
Buffalo concludes the regular season on Thursday, October 31, as the Bulls travel to Akron, OH for a 3pm match against the Zips.
