BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team wraps up regular season play at Akron on Thursday with a 3pm match at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Buffalo is coming off a 0-1-1 weekend as they played to a scoreless draw at Central Michigan on Thursday, before falling 2-1 at Eastern Michigan on Sunday. Senior Kara Daly scored just 27 seconds into the game on Sunday, but unfortunately for the Bulls, that would be it as UB was unable to score the rest of the game.
As a team the Bulls have scored 29 goals this season off the feet of 14 different players, the most of any team in the MAC. Barberic leads the Bulls with five goals and three assists, while Kara Daly has scored four goals to go with two assists and Kaitlyn Walsh and Hanna Callaghan have chipped in three goals apiece. Sophomore Emily Kelly has been consistent between the pipes for UB, compiling an 8-7-2 overall record with a 1.04 goals against average, 73 saves and four shutouts while starting all 18 games for the Bulls this season.
Akron enters Thursday's match with a 8-9-1 overall, 5-4-1 MAC record, after picking up a 1-0 road win at Central Michigan on Sunday. The Zips are led offensively by Ashley Amato who has recorded five goals on 23 shots this season. Sydney Worth and Carly Pcholinsky have also been main contributors this season as they have recorded three assists apiece on the year.
In net, the Zips have relied on Libby Harper who has compiled a 7-7-1 overall record with a 0.98 goals against average and 47 saves in 18 appearances this season.
After this Thursday's match, the Bulls will wait and see whether or not they will be at home or on the road for the MAC Championship quarterfinals. The quarterfinal match will be on Sunday, November 3rd.
