Aaron Gordon will begin his third season on the UB staff in the 2025 campaign. Gordon joined the Buffalo staff on March 27, 2023. Prior to UB, he served as an assistant coach at VCU from 2021-22. He was also a graduate assistant for the Rams for the 2020-21 season.
In his second season, the Bulls went 16-16 overall with a 12-6 conference record. Gordon helped the Bulls reach their third consecutive MAC Tournament appearance as Katrin Trebichavska, Abby Leigh and Mandy Leigh earned All-MAC honors.
In his first season on the Bulls’ staff, he helped the Bulls to a 23-9 overall record and 13-5 in MAC play. During the campaign, UB reached as high as 54th in the NCAA RPI Rankings. The Bulls won their first MAC East Division title to earn the #2-seed in the MAC Tournament. UB earned their second postseason berth as they participated in the NIVC. Under his guidance, the Bulls had a program record five student-athletes earn All-MAC honors.
As a graduate assistant, Gordon helped VCU to a 13-5 record, as well as a berth in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Match. Gordon led VCU’s serve receive passing efforts and assisted in scouting reports, as well as a multitude of administrative duties.
Prior to VCU, Gordon spent four years as a student manager for national powerhouse Florida. During his tenure, the Gators forged a 110-18 record and reached the NCAA Tournament four times, including a National Championship Match appearance in 2017.
“Aaron was on my radar right from the beginning of our search and continued to impress us at every step,” stated Head Coach Scott Smith. “Aaron’s approach towards training and his ability to see the big picture of what we are trying to accomplish at UB really made him a great fit for this position. He has mentored under very successful coaches at his previous assignments and is eager to make a positive impact with our players and program. His preparation and attention to detail helped him stand out in a field of strong candidates and I believe he will be a great asset to the program.”
He has also served as an assistant coach in the Gainesville Juniors Volleyball & Ocean Bay Volleyball Club, as well as a player-coach for Florida’s men’s club volleyball program during his undergraduate tenure.
Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Florida in 2020 and completed his Masters of Sport Leadership from VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership in December of 2021.
