BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith announced their incoming transfer class on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulls added three transfers to their fall roster.
Abbie Willis // Opposite Hitter // Western Carolina // Punta Gorda, Fla.
Willis comes from Western Carolina where she saw action in 22 matches with starts in seven contests. Tallying 80 kills, the Florida native had three matches with 10+ kills including season-high 12 in home match with SoCon Tournament Champion Wofford. Defensively she added 30 digs including a season-high five digs against Wofford & Furman in home bouts. At the net, the 6'2" outside hitter finished with nine blocks as she had season-high two rejections against The Citadel & Furman at home along with road match at Furman. Prior to her time at Western Carolina, she was a multisport athlete in high school competing in volleyball and basketball. In 2023, she helped the basketball team to a State Championship appearance. She earned Sun Preps Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year honors.
"Abbie brings more height and athleticism to our pin position," said Head Coach Scott Smith. "She is very versatile and can play front row on the right or left side of the court. At WCU she saw plenty of action mainly as a six rotation leftside. She has a tremendous attitude towards training and development, and we are very excited to get into the gym with her and get to work this spring!"
Nevaeh Smith // Middle Blocker/Right Side // East Texas A&M // San Antonio, Texas
Smith appeared in 27 matches for East Texas A&M this past season during her sophomore campaign. She tallied 146 total kills, good for 1.70 per set. She had a career-high 13 kills against McNeese. Her .241 hitting percentage was Nevaeh Smith the best on the team. On the year, her 190.0 total points were the second-most on the team. She also led the team with 75.0 total blocks, good for 0.89 blocks per set.
"Vaeh will be an impact player for us right from the start, as she has already proven to be able to produce points at the DI level while at East Texas A&M," added Smith. "She is well balanced as an attacker and blocker. One of the things that stood out to me about Nevaeh's play was her vision on the court and her ability to read the attackers to establish a solid block. Vaeh is a confident leader and I am looking forward to working with her this spring and what she will bring to the gym!"
Hailey Campagna // Opposite Hitter // Mississippi State // Dublin, Ohio
The Ohio native played in three sets across two matches. She made her collegiate debut against Marist. On the season, Campagna picked up seven kills and 7.5 points in her freshman season. Prior to her time at Mississippi State, she played in 246 sets during three seasons at Shekinah Christian before wrapping up her high school career with 80 sets at Hilliard Davidson High School. Collected 2,062 kills across four seasons, becoming one of four girls in OHSAA history to collect over 2,000 kills. She averaged over seven kills per set in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She set school records at Shekinah Christian and Hilliard Davidson for most kills in a season, picking up 649 her junior season and 404 her senior season. Her performance on the court led to her earning First-Team All-Ohio three times and an honorable mention once.
"Hailey is a powerful outside hitter with great jumping ability," said Smith. "She has solid ball control and the ability to play six rotations, which will allow her to be an offensive threat from anywhere on the court. I expect Hailey to make an immediate impact and compete for playing time on the leftside. She is a fiery competitor and will help elevate our program."
