BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith announced the addition of Michal Benaim to their incoming transfer class on Friday afternoon. Buffalo will have eight newcomers on the roster this season, including transfers Hailey Campagna (Mississippi State), Anaya Cole (Aukland University of Technology) and Abbie Willis (Western Carolina). Buffalo's freshman class will include Angelina Siepierski (Williamsville, N.Y.), Nienke Trossel (Utrecht, Netherlands), Soleil Rancourt (Bristow, Va.), Abisola Adebayo (Houston, Texas) and Benaim (Ness Ziona, Isreal).
Michal Benaim // Setter // Hofstra // Ness Ziona, Israel
Benaim lived at Israel's National Sports Academy boarding school from eighth through 12th grade, where she studied and trained with the youth Israeli National Team. During that time, she competed in numerous qualification and European Championship tournaments, and in 2020 Benaim was named Best Blocker of the Tournament. Throughout most of her career, she was a middle blocker before recently transitioning to a setter.
"Michal is a very physical setter transferring to UB after one semester at Hofstra," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "She carries herself with a lot of confidence and has great international experience playing at a very high level through her various clubs. As a former middle she has excellent blocking and net play. She is very focused on technical development and already has a great feel for the flow of the game. We are looking forward to her joining us this fall and elevating the competitive culture already established."
