Bulls Host Eastern Michigan for Weekend Slate

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (9-6, 1-3 MAC) returns to Broadview Arena as they'll host the Eastern Michigan Eagles (8-8, 2-2 MAC) on Friday and Saturday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ with Friday's match starting at 6 p.m. and Saturday's match beginning at 4 p.m.
Friday's match will serve as this year's Dig Pink/Block Out Cancer match presented by Kaleida Health. Saturday will be Buffalo's Mental Health Awareness match where the coaches will wear green ribbon pins. The players will wear green ribbons for Hilinski's Hope and H3H.
The Eagles lead the all-time series 23-12, as well as the MAC series 21-11. Under Head Coach Scott Smith, the Bulls are 7-3 against Eastern Michigan. Eastern Michigan's last win in Buffalo came in the 2018 season.
Manoela Forlin (171), Hailey Campagna (144) and Sydney Bell (127) have combined for 439 kills this season, making up 63.8% of the team's 693 kills. This is the third highest rate in the MAC as Miami's trio of Molly Creech (202), Chelsea Williams (124) and Lauren Coyne (113) making up 65.0%, good for second in the conference. Bowling Green's Anastasija Bozic (198), Karli Molnau (171) and Avery Hobson (2017) make up 70.6% of their kills.
Forlin and Campagna lead the Bulls in points per set with 3.80 and 3.35, respectfully. Anaya Cole has been all over the court this season as she has a team best 2.84 digs per set. Setter Maddie Mitchell is second on the team averaging 2.67 digs. Freshman Abisola Adebayo has 44 total blocks this season with Sydney Bell chipping in 34 of her own.
Eastern Michigan is led by Nattie Slusher who is averaging 2.69 kills and 2.93 points per set. Surabhi Sirnivasan has a team leading 4.46 digs per set which is second in the conference. Azra Eric has been a menace at the net as she has 68 total blocks, good for 1.19 per set.
THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
• The Bulls closed their non-conference slate with an 8-3 record, their best record since 2023 when they went 10-2.
• With their win over Syracuse, UB has beaten a Power Five program in three of the last four seasons. They defeated Missouri for their first win against an SEC program in 2023 as they beat Rutgers last season. This was the program's first win over Syracuse since 2012.
• Throughout their history, Buffalo is 132-342 (.278) in MAC play. During his tenure, Head Coach Scott Smith holds a 60-72 (.455) conference record. In three of the last four seasons, Smith has led the Bulls to 10+ wins in conference play.
• The Bulls will return to the friendly confines of Broadview Arena as they'll be home for three of their next four matches. Next Friday they will host the Bowling Green Falcons.
• Buffalo's 2026 roster features nine returners, including four rotational starters, eight newcomers in five freshmen and three transfers.
• Buffalo is 4-1 at home in 2026, matching last year's home win total.
• With 9 wins on the season, the Bulls have reached their total wins from a season ago.
• Buffalo has recorded five matches where three Bulls finished with 10+ kills each. They're 5-0 in such matches.
• Manoela Forlin is currently fourth in program history with 1,161.0 career points. She will continue to climb the record book as she needs 204.0 points for third to pass Katrin Trebichavska's (2022-24) 1,364.0 points.
• Manoela Forlin reached the 1,000 career kills mark against Toledo on Sept. 27th. She's the first Bull to do so since Katrin Trebichavska (2022-24) when she recorded 1,120 kills, the fifth most in program history. Forlin is 23 kills away from passing Polina Prokudina (2017-19) for 10th on UB's all-time career kills list.
