OXFORD, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (9-6, 1-3 MAC) fell to the Miami RedHawks (10-5, 2-2 MAC) on the road in four sets on Friday evening, 25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 13-25.
Abbie Willis led Buffalo with eight kills and a .353 hitting percentage. Manoela Forlin had seven kills and 12 digs for 8.0 points. Hailey Campagna added seven kills and 7.5 points.
Tehya Shaw hit .250 and added five kills and four total blocks. Matching Shaw in blocks was Ava Kanj. Maddie Mitchell had 31 assists with eight digs.
SET 1 | The Bulls led throughout the first set as there was just one tie. Both offenses struggled as Buffalo hit just .100, but the RedHawks hit -.053. The Bulls won the set 25-19.
SET 2 | Looking to keep their foot on the gas, the Bulls took the first point, but that was their only lead in the set. Miami led 15-12 at the media timeout, but the Bulls cut it to 19-18. Miami held off Buffalo to win 25-21.
SET 3 | Miami got rolling which shifted all the momentum. The Bulls called a timeout down four at 8-4, but the RedHawks pushed their lead to 15-9 at the media timeout. Buffalo clawed back with a 6-2 run to make it 18-17. Down the stretch, there were two ties, but the RedHawks prevailed, 25-21.
SET 4 | It was a tight set at the beginning, but Buffalo was forced to call a timeout trailing 7-2. Buffalo's offense had more errors than kills in the set as they failed to keep pace with the RedHawks. Miami took the set 25-13.
The Bulls return to Broadview Arena on Friday against the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
