BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith announced the addition of New Zealand native Anaya Cole to the incoming transfer class on Thursday afternoon. The Bulls have now added four transfers to their fall roster as she joins Abbie Willis, Nevaeh Smith and Hailey Campagna.
Anaya Cole // Graduate Student // Libero/Defensive Specialist // Auckland University of Technology // Christchurch, New Zealand
Cole comes from New Zealand where she previously attended Aukland University of Technology (AUT). Playing for the Aukland Central Volleyball Club, she also played for the New Zealand National Team as the starting libero from 2024-25. She was also on the National Team in 2022 for the women's open. Winning is in her DNA as she helped her teams to first place finishes at the Tertiary Championships (2023), National Secondary Schools Championships (2021), Canterbury Championships (2020 & 2021) and the South Island Championships (2020 & 2021). While at UB, she intends to receive her master's in computer science.
"I am very excited to introduce Anaya to Buffalo as the first international libero we have brought into this program since before 2015," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "I believe her experience with the national team of New Zealand, and international play, has prepared her to make an immediate impact in our gym. She brings a level of maturity, dedication, and motivation that will be very influential throughout our team. On the court she is well balanced with her defense and serve receive but it is her ability to communicate and lead that really stood out to our staff."
