
Bulls Fall in Friday Matches at the Queens Fall Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (5-3, 0-0 MAC) fell to the Presbyterian Blue Hose and the Queens Royals on Friday evening.
MATCH 1 VS. PRESBYTERIAN
The Bulls fell in four sets to the Blue Hose to open their competition at the Queens Fall Classic. Buffalo's offense struggled as they only hit .150 to Presbyterian's .230.
Maddie Mitchell tallied her 16th career double-double with 43 assists and a season-high 21 digs. Sydney Bell led the offense with a career-high 16 kills.
Abisola Adebayo continued to be aggressive at the net as she finished with five blocks. She also added eight kills with a .412 hitting percentage.
SET 1 | The match was tight to start the afternoon as there were 13 ties and seven lead changes. After a 16-16 tie, the Blue Hose pulled away as they closed the set on a 9-4 run.
SET 2 | Presbyterian dominated the second set as they hit .367. They limited Buffalo's offense to just a .026 hitting percentage. Presbyterian won the set, 25-14.
SET 3 | The Bulls took the third set to avoid the sweep, 25-20. Buffalo got out to an eight-point lead, but the Blue Hose tightened the set at 18-14. The Bulls closed the set on a 7-0 run. UB tallied 17 kills in the set.
SET 4 | Buffalo looked as though they'd tie the match as they took a 4-0 lead. They held the lead until Presbyterian rattled off a run to go up 14-12. Buffalo's last lead came at 19-18, but the Blue Hose managed to snatch the victory, 25-22.
MATCH 2 AT QUEENS
The Bulls struggled against the home team in the Queens Royals, in their second match of the day, falling in straight sets.
Maddie Mitchell recorded her 17th career double-double with 29 assists and 11 digs. Abisola Adebayo racked up five more blocks to her season total.
Hailey Campagna led the Bulls with nine kills.
SET 1 | The Bulls outhit the Royals, .414 to .263, in a back-and-forth set. In total, there were 17 ties and six lead changes. Buffalo led 18-17 before a 3-0 run by the Royals gave them a 20-18 lead. Queens manages to squeak out a 25-23 win.
SET 2 | Both offenses could not find their rhythm as they both finished with a sub-.110 hitting percentage. Queens jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Bulls put up a 9-0 run to take a 17-11 lead. Leading 21-17, Queens rattled off a 6-0 run to retake the lead, 23-21. The Royals won the set, 25-23.
SET 3 | The Royals could do no wrong in the final set of the evening as they hit .519 to Buffalo's .148. Queens led by as many as 10 as they won, 25-18.
The Bulls are back in action tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against the Chattanooga Mocs.
