Volleyball Heads South for the Queens Fall Classic

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (5-1, 0-0 MAC) will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for the Queens Fall Classic hosted by Queens University of Charlotte. The Bulls will begin the Classic against the Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-2, 0-0 Big South) on Friday at 12:30 p.m. They will then face the Queens Royals (0-6, 0-0 ASun) at 7:30 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+. Their weekend will close against the Chattanooga Mocs (3-3, 0-0 SoCon) on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
The Bulls are coming off a 3-0 week in the Buffalo/Canisius Invitational with wins over Canisius, UMBC and Dartmouth. After sweeping their competition, they improved their overall record to 5-1, their best start to a season through six matches since 2023 when they started 6-0.
Following her performance, Sydney Bell was named Buffalo/Canisius All-Tournament MVP. She tallied a .377 hitting percentage with 30 kills. Manoela Forlin and Hailey Campagna also earned All-Tournament honors. Forlin recorded a pair of double-doubles as Campagna led the Bulls with 40 kills.
Presbyterian enters the weekend with a 5-2 record as they went 2-1 last weekend at the Furman Invitational. The Blue Hose picked up wins over North Carolina A&T and Queens. Ashley Miller leads the team with 3.39 points per set. Meredith Reisman is the team's top blocker with 27.0 blocks and 1.00 blocks per set.
The Queens Royals are winless at this point in the season with six losses. Emma Norris has a team-high 3.00 kills per set as she's hitting .292. She's also second on the team with 15.0 blocks behind Layni Tobias's 17.0 blocks. As a team, they're averaging 14.5 digs per set.
Chattanooga holds a 3-3 record. They went 2-1 last weekend at the North Alabama Noona Kennard Invitational with wins over UT Martin and Jackson State. Jordin Glass leads the Mocs with a .307 hitting percentage and 3.34 points per set. Kynli Kirkendoll is up to 19.0 blocks this season as the team averaged 1.68 blocks per set.

THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
- Buffalo's 5-1 record is their best start to a season since 2023 when they started 6-0. Through nine matches in 2023, they were 8-1. Buffalo's best start in their Division I era (since 1991), came in 2013 when they started 12-0.
- Head Coach Scott Smith is in his eighth season at the helm for the Bulls in 2026. In his career, he holds a 102-110 (.481) overall record. Against Canisius on Sept. 2nd, he recorded his 100th career victory. Smith is the second coach in the program's Division I history to reach the 100-win mark. Only Robert Maxwell has more Division I wins in program history with 131 from 1991-1998.
- After their three-match homestand last week, the Bulls will be away from the friendly confines of Broadview Arena for a while. 14 of their next 17 matches will be out of town, including a stretch of 9 of 10 conference matches on the road.
- Buffalo is 3-0 at home in 2026, last year they tallied just four home wins.
- Abisola Adebayo led the Bulls with 12 total blocks last week, averaging 1.09 blocks per set.
- The Bulls have the most international players of any roster in the Mid-American Conference this season with five. Manoela Forlin (Curitiba, Brazil) returns for her senior season as Canadian National Player Sydney Bell (Orleans, Ontario) is back for her sophomore campaign. The Bulls added Michal Benaim (Ness Ziona, Israel), Nienke Trossel (Utrecht, Ntherlands) and Anaya Cole (Dunedin, New Zealand).
- With eight newcomers on the roster and six departures, the Bulls return at least 55% of their key statistics; 56.4% of kills, 58.6% of points, 58.5% of digs, 64.3% of aces, 69.3% of blocks and 86.0% of sets.
