Bulls Welcome Eastern Michigan to Broadview Stadium on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (4-2-3, 1-0-1 MAC) returns to action on Sunday as they welcome the Eastern Michigan Eagles to Broadview Stadium for a 1pm contest.
It is the 31st meeting between Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with the Eagles holding a narrow 12-11-8 series advantage. The Bulls fell to the Eagles 1-0 at Scicluna Field a year ago.
Buffalo played to a scoreless draw with Toledo on a beautiful afternoon at Broadview Stadium on Sunday. The Bulls outshot the Rockets 14-9 while Toledo had a 3-0 edge in corner kick opportunities and the teams tied with four shots on goal each. Senior Lexie Thompson earned her sixth clean sheet of the season with three saves on the afternoon.
The Bulls currently lead the MAC in shutout percentage (.667) while ranking third in save percentage (.822), goals against average (1.00), total assists (11) and assists per game (1.22). Buffalo is balanced offensively with seven goals coming off the feet of six different players. Two-time MAC Goalkeeper of the Year Lexie Thompson leads UB between the pipes as she leads the MAC and ranks in the top five nationally in shutouts (6) while also ranking second in the league in saves (34), third in goals against average (0.89) and fifth in save percentage (.810).
Eastern Michigan finished non-conference play with a 2-1-3 overall record and is 1-0-1 in league play after defeating Central Michigan 3-0 on Sunday. The Eagles were picked seventh in the preseason coaches poll and returned a solid core of 18 players, which includes 75% of their minutes and 94% of their scoring from last season. EMU is led offensively by Christie Fransen who has three goals on the year. Senior Ella Holland is a force for the Eagles between the pipes as she has compiled a 3-1-4 overall record and leads the MAC and ranks in the top 15 nationally in goals against average (0.38) while also leading the league in save percentage (.870) and ranking second in shutouts (5) through eight contests.
Up next, Buffalo will travel to Oxford, Ohio for a clash with the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Thursday, October 1. Kickoff from Bobby Kramig Field is set for 7pm.
