Bulls Host Toledo on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (4-2-2, 1-0 MAC) continues Mid-American Conference play on Sunday as they welcome the Toledo Rockets to Broadview Stadium at 1pm.
It is the 32nd meeting between Buffalo and Toledo with the Bulls holding a 17-12-2 series advantage. The Bulls have won seven of the last eight meetings with the Rockets, most recently a 3-1 win at Paul Hotmer Field last season.
Buffalo opened MAC play with a 1-0 road win at Central Michigan on Thursday night. Junior midfielder Mae Hunt scored the game-winner in the 72nd minute. The Bulls outshot the Chippewas 11-9 and maintained a 6-2 edge in corner kick opportunities while senior Lexie Thompson earned her fifth clean sheet of the season with two saves on the night.
The Bulls currently rank second in the MAC in shutout percentage (.625) while ranking third in save percentage (.805) and goals against average (1.00) and fourth in total assists (11) and assists per game (1.38). Buffalo is balanced offensively with seven goals coming off the feet of six different players. Two-time MAC Goalkeeper of the Year Lexie Thompson leads UB between the pipes as she leads the MAC in shutouts (5) while ranking second in total saves (31), third in goals against average (1.00) and fifth save percentage (.795). The Levittown, NY native currently ranks first in program history in career goals against average (0.75), third in shutouts (26) and fourth in wins (30).
Toledo finished non-conference play with a 5-2-1 overall record and is 1-0 in league play after defeating Kent State 1-0 on Thursday. The Rockets were picked 10th in the preseason coaches poll. They return 24 players while adding eight newcomers. Toledo is led offensively by sophomore forward Ella Zoerhoff who leads the MAC with eight goals on the year and graduate student McKenna Schultz who has scored three goals. Senior Paige Dornheggen leads the Rockets between the pipes with a 5-1-1 overall record, 1.07 goals against average and a .789 save percentage through eight contests.
