FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) announced their 2023 tournament field on Sunday evening. Of the teams selected, the University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (23-8, 13-5 MAC) will continue their season as the Mid-American Conference's automatic qualifier.
Last season, the Bulls played Boston College in the first round of the NIVC. Boston College went on to win the 2022 NIVC.
The Bulls are coming off a MAC Tournament semifinal appearance for the second consecutive year and just the second time in program history. This will mark the second postseason tournament that Buffalo has qualified for as a Division I program.
Buffalo will travel to Queens, N.Y. to face the USF Bulls (19-11, 13-6 AAC) on Friday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. St. John's will host the region and play Howard at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The Ball State Cardinals are the only other MAC program that will participate in this year's NIVC.
The Bulls had a record-breaking season as they reached a Division I era 23-victories and five student-athletes earning All-MAC honors. Abby Leigh, Mandy Leigh, Courtney Okwara, and Katrin Trebichavska earned First-Team All-MAC honors while Manoela Forlin took home All-Freshman honors.
