Bulls Close Out Regular Season Against Kent State on Thursday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (7-4-6, 4-3-3) wraps up the regular season on Thursday as they welcome Kent State to UB Stadium for a 3pm contest.
The Bulls currently sit in sixth place in the Mid-American Conference standings and can clinch a spot in the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament with a win or a tie against the Golden Flashes.
It will be the 27th meeting between Buffalo and Kent State with the Golden Flashes owning a narrow 13-11-2 series advantage. The Bulls defeated Kent State 2-0 in the regular season finale a year ago.
Buffalo split its matches over the weekend as the Bulls defeated Toledo 3-0 in dominant fashion on Thursday before falling at Western Michigan on Sunday. Junior Arianna Zumpano had a stellar weekend, recording three goals over the two games while Leah Wengender also added a goal, scoring the game-winner in Thursday's victory.
Sophomore Katie Krohn leads the MAC with 12 goals on the year while also leading the league in goals per game (0.71), total points (28), points per game (1.65) and shots on goal per game (1.65). She also ranks in the top five in the league in total shots (53) and shots per game (3.0). Zumpano has recorded six goals, including five in conference play, and Wengender has scored four goals while adding five assists. Senior Rebecca Winslow leads the Bulls between the pipes, compiling a 3-3-4 overall record with five shutouts. She has made 29 saves while recording a .690 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average.
Kent State is 9-6-2 overall and 6-4 in league play after a defeating Toledo 4-1 on Sunday. The Golden Flashes are led offensively by junior midfielder Alisa Arthur who has scored seven goals to go with three assists. Additionally, four different players have recorded multiple goals on the season. In net, Kent State is led by graduate student Sarah Melen who is 9-6-2 overall with 76 saves, a 0.792 save percentage and a 1.20 goals against average in 17 starts.
Following play on Thursday, the seeding and host site for the 2023 MAC Tournament will be announced.
