
Bulls Close Out Regular Season This Week

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (4-1-1) will close out the regular season with a pair of matches this week. The Bulls will host Akron on Thursday night for Senior Day at UB Stadium before concluding the regular season at Ohio on Sunday.
On Thursday it will be the 21st all-time meeting between Buffalo and Akron with the Zips holding a 9-8-3 series edge. The Bulls and Zips played to a scoreless draw in Akron on March 18.
On Sunday, Buffalo and Ohio will meet for the 25th time with UB owning the narrow 12-11-1 series advantage. The Bulls have won four of the last five meetings with the Bobcats, most recently a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win at UB Stadium on March 21.
Buffalo is coming off a dominant 4-0 win over Miami (OH) at UB Stadium on March 28th. The Bulls were led by senior Marcy Barberic who recorded two goals in the win. Junior Katherine Camper had a big day, scoring a goal and recording two assists, while Kaitlyn Walsh also added her first goal of the season.
Barberic leads the Bulls in points (13), goals (6) and shots (27) while fellow senior captain Gianna Yurchak has 10 points on three goals and a team-best four assists. Wengender has also recorded a pair of goals on nine shots and Camper and Walsh have one goal each.
Winners of two straight, Akron enters Thursday's match with a 2-4-1 overall record after defeating Ohio 2-0 on Sunday. Sydney Worthy, Lucia Lobato and Carly Pcholinsky have all scored one goal each for the Zips while Worthy and Pcholinsky lead the team with eight shots a piece. Vanessa Berlin has led Akron between the pipes, compiling a 1-3 overall record with a 1.75 goals against average and 20 saves in four starts this season.
Ohio enters the weekend with a 2-6 overall record after falling to Akron 2-0 on Sunday. The Bobcats are led by Carsyn Prigge and Shae Robertson who have scored a pair of goals each. Senior Sydney Malham has led the Bobcats between the pipes, compiling a 2-2 record with a 0.74 goals against average and 17 saves in three starts.
Following the results of the weekend, a MAC East and West champion will be crowned with the winners of both divisions meeting in the MAC Championship game on Saturday, April 17.
