
No. 4 Bulls Host No. 5 Central Michigan in MAC Quarterfinals on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team will make its seventh straight appearance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament this weekend as the Bulls will be the No. 4 seed and host the No. 5 seed Central Michigan Chippewas on Sunday at 1pm.
It will be the 28th meeting between Buffalo and Central Michigan with the Chippewas owning a 13-7-7 series advantage. The Chippewas scored in the final minute of play to defeat the Bulls 1-0 at UB Stadium on earlier this month.
Buffalo finished the regular season with a 12-3-3 overall record and a 6-2-3 league mark. The Bulls have been balanced offensively all season long as UB has scored 32 goals off the feet of 13 different players. Leading the offensive charge for the Bulls is graduate student Marcy Barberic who has recorded nine goals and five assists while Katherine Camper, Gianna Yurchak and Arianna Zumpano have scored three goals each. The Bulls lead the MAC in assists per game (2.00) and shots on goal per game (7.17) and rank second in scoring offense (1.78), points per game (5.56), total goals (32) and total points (100).
The UB backline has played consistent all season long, recording eight clean sheets on the season. Senior Emily has been consistent between the pipes for UB, compiling an 12-3-3 overall record with a 0.98 goals against average, 59 saves and eight shutouts while starting all 18 games for the Bulls this season.
The Chippewas earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament after closing out the regular season with a 9-7-1 overall record and a 6-4-1 MAC mark. Central Michigan is led offensively by redshirt freshman Gaelle Wells, Elizabeth Chlystun and Samantha Kaye-Toral who have scored three goals each this season. Jaelyn Dobrowolski has also been a contributor as she has recorded two goals and six assists on the year.
In net, the Chippewas have relied on sophomore Allison LaPoint who has compiled a 0.89 goals against average and 75 saves in 17 starts.
With a win on Sunday, the Bulls will travel to Bowling Green, OH for a rematch of the 2019 semifinals against the top-seeded and defending champion Bowling Green Falcons in the first of two semifinal matches at 4pm.
