KENT, OH - Sophomore Taylor Thompson scored her second goal of the season as the Buffalo women's soccer squad lost the final game of the season, 7-1, at Kent State. The Bulls end the season with a 1-16-2 record, 0-9-2 in Mid American Conference action.
Thompson scored in the 54th minutes, taking the ball through the defense and scoring from 12 yards out. The Bulls totaled eight shots overall in a physical game that saw a combined 38 fouls committed. The Buffalo offense was stalled for much of the game thanks in part to eight offsides penalties.
The game marks the end for six Buffalo seniors - Lindsey and Kristen Bailey, Nina Connell, Julie Dale, Courtney McHale and Martina Pettenuzzo. McHale made three saves in goal as a second-half sub and Lindsey Bailey took four of the team's eight shots.
For the final stats of the season, freshman goalie Ainsley Wheldon made the second-most saves and saves per game in the MAC - with 96 and 6.4, respectively - despite missing the final three games of the season due to injury. The Waterloo, Ontario native also ranked 10th in the conference in save percentage.
