Bulls Bounced by Bonnies

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's
soccer team took on St. Bonavenutre this afternoon at St.
Bonaventure's McGraw-Jennings Field. The Bulls fell to the
Bonnies 3-1, with freshman Stephanie Velez scoring her first career
goal early in the second half.
The first half was scoreless for both teams with UB outshooting the
Bonnies 4-3. Lindsey Bailey gave Buffalo their first shot on goal
of the game at the 24:51 mark to test the Bonnies goalkeeper.
Aubrey Stahl and Velez also had scoring chances in the first half
but couldn't find the back of the net.
Velez netted Buffalo's only goal of the game off a pass from
Bailey less than three minutes into the second half to put the
Bulls up by one. Their lead didn't last long as St.
Bonaventure came back with a goal of their own less than a minute
later to tie it up. The Bonnies put another one past Buffalo
goalkeeper Danielle Quigley at the 57:41 mark to take the lead. The
Bonnies added one more with just six minutes remaining to seal the
win. Velez had a team high four shots.
The Bulls have their home opener up next, taking on local rival
Niagara on Wednesday, September 9. The game is set for 7:30 pm at
UB Stadium.
