Bulls Sweep UIC on Senior Day

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team (13-6, 7-2 MAC) celebrated their senior class in style with a 7-0 sweep of UIC at the UB Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bulls improve to 7-2 in league play and sit in first place in the Mid-American Conference standings with one match remaining in the regular season.
Buffalo got off to a great start as Theodoros Mitsakos and Clement Mainguy won 6-2 at first doubles and Faiz Nasyam and Minjae Kim followed with a 6-2 victory of their own a couple minutes later at the third position to clinch the doubles point for UB.
Nasyam continued his momentum in singles action as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles. Junior Onder Balci picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles and Mitsakos followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win of his own at the first position to clinch the match for UB. Kim added to the lead with a 6-3, 6-2 win at fourth singles, Emiliano Jorquera followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the sixth position and Mainguy rounded out the scoring for UB with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 victory at third singles.
"This was a great way to celebrate our seniors today," said head coach Lee Nickell. "I am very proud of the team, the heart they show and the way they play for each other. Our four seniors have changed this program and will forever be legends at UB. We have a long way to go, we are going to practice hard and be ready for Toledo next week.
Up next, Buffalo will conclude the regular season at Toledo on Saturday, April 11 at 1pm.
