Men’s Tennis To Face Ohio State in NCAA Tournament First Round

BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight season, the University at Buffalo men's tennis team will head to Ohio State for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, it was announced on Monday during the men's tennis selection show. The Bulls and the Buckeyes will square off on Friday, May 1 at 1pm.
Buffalo enters the national tournament with an impressive resume as UB is 16-6 on the season and went 8-2 in Mid-American Conference play, winning the regular season conference title for the second straight year, and then picked up two more wins in the conference tournament, claiming the tournament title in back-to-back years for the first time in program history. The Bulls had four players earn All-MAC honors and head coach Lee Nickell was named MAC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and fifth time overall in his time at UB.
This is the second straight and third overall time that UB has played Ohio State in the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes enter the NCAA Tournament with a 29-4 overall record and a 12-1 mark in Big Ten play. Ohio State lost 4-3 in the finals of the Big Ten Tournament to top seed Michigan State.
Also in the Columbus regional is California and Kentucky, who will play at 10am on Friday. The winners of the two matches will then meet on Saturday with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.
All matches feature free admission and parking and will take place outside at the Auer Tennis Complex, weather permitting.
