
Women’s Soccer Adds Former All-American Emily Kelly to Coaching Staff

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer head coach Shawn Burke announced the addition of former standout Emily Kelly to the coaching staff for the 2026 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Emily back to the 716," said Burke. "Can't think of anyone better to bring back and continue the growth of this program and lead our goalkeeping unit."
Kelly returns to Buffalo after two seasons as a graduate assistant and goalkeepers coach at Murray State where she was a part of a Racers' coaching staff that earned 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Co-Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
A five-year starter for the Bulls, Kelly appeared and started in 88 games during her time in Buffalo. The Wilson, NY native cemented herself as one of the best players to ever where the blue and white as she finished her storied career as Buffalo's all-time winningest goalkeeper with 54 wins and holds the school record with 35 shutouts while ranking fourth in program history in career goals against average (0.934) and eighth in career saves (331).
In her final season in Buffalo, Kelly became the second player in school history to be named Second Team All-American, while also earning Mid-American Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-MAC honors after setting the single-season goals against average (0.43) tied the shutout record (13) and was second in single-season wins (15). Kelly led the nation and the MAC in shutouts (13) while also leading the league and ranking in the top 10 nationally in goals against average and save percentage.
A native of Wilson, NY, Kelly was a standout at Wilson High School where she was a two-time All-New York State selection, leading her squad to two straight Sectional finals.
Kelly graduated from UB in December 2022 after double majoring in communication and psychology. Following graduation, she played professionally for Gungahlin United FC in Canberra, Australia.
