BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo men's tennis senior Clement Mainguy was named the Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
It is the second weekly honor Mainguy and the seventh overall for the Bulls this season.
Mainguy continues to come up big for the Bulls as he went 2-0 in his singles matches while also picking up a doubles victory to lead Buffalo to a pair of wins to open MAC play. On Friday at Western Michigan, the match came down to third singles where Mainguy saved six match points to win a third set tiebreaker 12-10 and clinch the match with a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 victory to give the Bulls a 4-3 win over the defending regular season champion Broncos. He followed that up with another great performance as he battled to a 7-6, 6-3 win, also at third singles, to lead UB to a 6-1 win at Ball State. With the wins, Mainguy improves to 11-5 on the year.
Up next, Buffalo will continue MAC play at Toledo on Saturday, March 15 at 1pm.
