
Program Record Seven Bulls Earn Volleyball Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2024 Women's Volleyball Academic All-MAC team on Monday morning. This year's squad included a program record seven Bulls with Chloe Brown, Manoela Forlin, Maria Futey, Mandy Leigh, Lauren Otten, Tehya Shaw and Katrin Trebichavska taking home honors.
Under Head Coach Scott Smith's guidance, he's helped UB earn 36 Academic All-MAC honors since 2015.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport.
Chloe Brown, Sophomore, Defensive Specialist, Exercise Science, 3.738
Sophomore defensive specialist Chloe Brown appeared in 20 matches. She totaled 104 digs in 62 sets played. Brown set a career-high 9 digs against Ohio State and Niagara. This is her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Manoela Forlin, Sophomore, Opposite/Right Side, Graphic Design, 3.554
Sophomore Manoela Forlin appeared in 27 matches while being second on the team in total kills with 302. Her 3.02 kills per set was 12th in the MAC. She set program records for kills (27) and points (31.5) in a four-set match against Niagara. This is her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Maria Futey, Senior, Libero, Exercise Science, 3.874
Senior libero Maria Futey appeared in all 119 sets, leading the team with 479 digs, good for 80th in the country. She averaged 4.03 digs per set. Futey also finished with a reception percentage of .939 and with the second most assists on the team with 115. This marked her third Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Mandy Leigh, Senior, Setter, Health & Human Sciences, 3.423
Senior setter Mandy Leigh continued to put herself in the record books in the 2024 campaign. After recording 1,088 assists on the season, she is the program record holder for career assists with 4,643. She added 104 kills, 299 digs and 52 total blocks. Leigh went on to earn Second-Team All-MAC honors on the season. This is her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Lauren Otten, Junior, Outside Hitter, Business Administration, 3.802
Junior Lauren Otten in 18 matches. She recorded 50 kills, including a career-high 14 kills against Ohio State and UConn. This marked her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Tehya Shaw, Redshirt Sophomore, Middle Blocker, Environmental Studies, 3.200
Tehya Shaw appeared in 17 matches. On the season, she set career high marks in kills (9) and blocks (7) against Eastern Michigan and Oakland, respectively. This is her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
Katrin Trebichavska, Fifth Year Senior, Outside Hitter, Health and Human Sciences, 3.352
Fifth year senior Katrin Trebichavska appeared in 27 matches, leading the team with 400 kills and 51 aces. Her 0.51 aces per set was good for 19th in the country. She took home First-Team All-MAC honors on the season. This marked her first Academic All-MAC honor in her career.
