BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (9-16, 6-10 MAC) will host the Bowling Green Falcons (14-14, 8-8 MAC) for the final weekend of conference play and a trip to the MAC Tournament on the line. Friday's match will begin at 6 p.m. with Saturday's match at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bulls are looking for their first win over the Falcons since Nov. 8, 2019, when they won at home, 3-1. Bowling Green has won the last 12 meetings over Buffalo. Head Coach Scott Smith is 1-13 against the Falcons with his lone win coming in his first season at the helm.
Last weekend, the Bulls split their matches at Toledo as they won a thrilling match on Friday night, 3-2. After dropping the first set, the Bulls rallied to win the next two sets. The Rockets forced a fifth set, but the Bulls were victorious behind the efforts of Emerson Matthews, Manoela Forlin, Maddie Mitchell and Sadie Gladhill. For the second time this season, three Bulls recorded double-doubles in the same match. Matthews finished with a match-high 25 kills and 13 digs as Forlin added 21 kills and 18 digs. Mitchell tallied a match-high 42 assists with 24 digs as Gladhill had a career-high 25 digs. Keira Kleidon totaled 19 digs. Mitchell, Matthews, Forlin, Gladhill and Kleidon all finished with double figure digs. In the win, the Bulls totaled 112 digs, this was the first time since Oct. 29, 2022, against Central Michigan that the Bulls reached 100+ digs in a match.
The last time two Bulls had 20+ kills in a match was on Oct. 22, 2024, against Akron where Katrin Trebichavska and Manoela Forlin did so with 23 kills each.
As a team on the weekend, the Bulls finished with 20.75 digs per set, which was the best in the conference. UB entered last week just averaging 14.26 digs per set. Toledo was second on the week with 19.25 digs per set.
