Bulls Close Out Regular Season With Pair of Road Matches

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team will end its regular season with a pair of road matches, as the Bulls will travel to Toledo on Friday before concluding weekend play at Ball State on Sunday.
The Bulls (9-6, 5-3 MAC) currently sit in third place in the Mid-American Conference standings and have clinched a spot as one of four teams advancing to the MAC Tournament next weekend, hosted by Western Michigan.
Buffalo handed Western Michigan its first conference loss of the season on March 31 and then rattled off three more wins to extend their win streak to four matches, most recently a 4-3 win over Binghamton on April 8. UB has presented a balanced attack in singles action with five players recording double-digit win totals on the season, led by fifth year Simon Wibler who has 17 and freshman Theodoros Mitsakos who has recorded 17 wins. In doubles play, the Bulls have been led by Wibler and Finn Macnamara who own a team-best 17 doubles victories and Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang who have paired together for 12 wins.
Toledo enters Friday's match with a 14-5 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league play. The Rockets had one of their best wins of the year in their last time out, defeating four-time defending MAC champion Western Michigan 6-1 in Kalamazoo for their first win over the Broncos in 26 years. The Rockets are led by Pawit Sornlaksup who extended his winning streak to 39 straight matches with his win over WMU. He remains defeated in MAC play and has won 20-straight league dual matches.
Ball State sits at 11-9 on the season and 3-5 in MAC play entering weekend play. They are coming off a 5-2 win at Northern Illinois a week ago. Eli Herran leads the Cardinals in singles action with a 16-3 overall record.
