
Women’s Soccer’s Emily Kelly Signs with Australia’s Gungahlin United FC

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's soccer standout Emily Kelly will continue her soccer career after concluding her decorated collegiate career, signing with Australia's Gungahlin United FC in the National Premier League.
A five-year starter for the Bulls, Kelly appeared and started in 88 games during her time in Buffalo. The Wilson, NY native cemented herself as one of the best players to ever where the blue and white as she finished her storied career as Buffalo's all-time winningest goalkeeper with 54 wins and holds the school record with 35 shutouts while ranking third in program history in career goals against average (0.934) and eighth in career saves (331).
In her final season in Buffalo, Kelly became the second player in school history to be named Second Team All-American, while also earning Mid-American Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-MAC honors. She has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Team two times. The Wilson, NY native set the single season goals against average (0.43) tied the shutout record (13) and is second in single season wins (15). Kelly led the nation and the MAC in shutouts (13) while also leading the league and ranking in the top 10 nationally in goals against average (0.431) and save percentage (0.878).
"We are so proud of Emily and can't wait to see her flourish at the next level," said head coach Shawn Burke. "From day one, Emily has always trained like a pro and that work ethic and dedication will continue to open doors for her."
GUFC is based in the Canberra district of Gungahlin, ACT. Gungahlin currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football with home matches played at the recently constructed Gungahlin Enclosed Oval. Kelly will join the club's NPL team for the 2023 season.
