Abby Leigh Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced their weekly volleyball honors on Monday afternoon. Abby Leigh was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week. This is UB's first defensive honor since October 24, 2022, when Maria Futey took home the award.
Abby Leigh had a solid weekend for the Bulls defensively against Ohio. She helped the Bulls split their weekend series to improve to 3-1 in MAC play. In total, Leigh had 14 total blocks over the weekend, good for 2.00 blocks per set. She racked up a career-high nine blocks in Saturday's win over the Bobcats. She added 14 kills for 2.00 per set, one ace, five digs and 26.0 points.
This marks Leigh's first weekly honor of the season and second in her career. The Bulls have taken home at least one weekly award over the last five weeks and a total of six on the season.
The Bulls are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 5 as the team will host Central Michigan (8-9, 2-3 MAC) followed by Eastern Michigan (2-15, 0-5 MAC) on Friday. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m.
