CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2025 All-MAC awards on Thursday morning. Both Manoela Forlin and Emerson Matthews earned Second-Team All-MAC honors as Matthews also took home All-Freshman Team honors. This marked the fourth straight season the Bulls earned at least three postseason awards. In his tenure at Buffalo, Head Coach Scott Smith has helped the program earn 26 All-MAC honors since 2015.
Manoela Forlin, Junior, Outside Hitter – All-MAC Second Team
The veteran of Buffalo's offense scored 3.42 kills per set and 3.84 points per set, good for fourth and third in the MAC. The 6-rotation outside for the Bulls, Forlin competed in all but two sets for the Bulls this season and was second on the team in receptions (388), reception percentage (94.6%) and in service aces (0.25 SA/S). Forlin also had 2.36 digs per set and 0.25 blocks per set for the Bulls this season. In total, she had seven double-doubles on the team, good for the second-most by a Bull this season. This marked Forlin's second All-MAC honor as she earned All-Freshman Team honors in 2023.
Emerson Matthews, Freshman, Outside Hitter – All-MAC Second Team, All-Freshman Team
Emerson Matthews had a prominent impact on the Bulls' offense throughout the season. She led the Bulls as a true freshman in kills per set (4.00) and points per set (4.57) and finished third in both categories in the entire MAC. Matthews also led the Bulls in receptions (420) and in reception percentage (94.8%). She added 0.30 aces per set which was just outside the top-10 in the conference. She finished with 2.00 digs per set and 0.41 blocks per set as she played in every set this season. Matthews compiled a total of six double-doubles as a freshman. She had the third-most kills in the MAC in a five-set match as she did so twice with 25. The last Bull to earn All-Freshman Team honors was her teammate, Manoela Forlin.
"We are proud that Manoela and Emerson were recognized as two of the top outside hitters in the conference," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "They both work exceptionally hard and I am happy to see them celebrated for their efforts. They will undoubtedly be key players driving the success of the program this upcoming season."
