Bulls Return To Action With 7-0 Sweep of Niagara

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Playing for the first time in over a month, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team returned to action on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Niagara by a score of 7-0 to improve to 3-0 on the year.
The Bulls won two of the three matches in doubles, taking both second and third doubles by identical 6-1 scores. Pia Schwarz and Ambre Amat scored the win at second doubles, while Hsin-Yuan Shih and Lolina Schietekat Sedas won at third doubles.
Buffalo took all six matches in singles, winning all of them in straight sets. Schwarz came away with a 6-4, 6-2 win at first singles, while Gabriella Akopyan won at second singles, dropping just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Amat added a 6-3, 6-1 win at third singles.
Shih claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at fourth singles and Sedas won 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles. Freshman Mariana Carvajal Torres completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at sixth singles.
Buffalo will open Mid-American Conference play on Friday at Bowling Green.
